Leland Blue Statement Ring in Sterling Silver Size 6
This is am amazing specimen of Leland Blue, cut by stone cutter Gary Wilson. (See below for an explanation of Leland Blue) it almost resembles a highly matrixed turquoise, but is a sky blue with metallic black/gray inclusions. The surface is smooth but lightly pitted, which is due to trapped air bubbles. Set in sterling silver and framed with beading all around. Wide ring band which measures size 6 on the mandrel. Meant for smaller fingered women who like a big statement ring!

So what is "Leland Blue"? It's not a natural stone at all, it is actually slag – a waste product from the smelting process used in the late 1800s by the Leland Lake Superior Iron Company. For a more detailed explanation, read this article: http://www.lelandmi.com/about/leland-blue-stones.html
