Surfite Rings - Colorful Surfboard Paint
Colorful & one-of-a-kind, these "stones" are actually hardened surfboard paint! During the "glassing" process, the paint runs off of the surfboard and builds up, layer by layer. Chunks of it are sold to stone cutters who create these amazing cabochons. Most stone cutters cur the material so that it is striped, but my source cuts the opposite direction, so the colors show in pools and swirls, reminding me of melted crayons.
The stones have been set in smooth sterling silver bezels upon 22 gauge stamped sterling silver sheet. A double wire band is soldered to each. The metal has been oxidized in liver of sulphur, and then sanded, polished & buffed to bring out highlights and shine.
2 rings to choose from - one is predominantly orange and is a size 6.25, the other is mostly blues and is a size 9.
