Derwood China Plate Pendant - Upcycled China in Sterling Silver
This one-of-a-kind pendant has been created in keeping with a Verdilune philosophy - recycle, reuse, renew! The "cabochon" is actually an oval Hallmark section cut from the bottom of an old porcelain plate by artist Sierra Stone Studios. It reads "Derwood, W.S. George 1716" (This is not the year it was produced, since the company only existed in the early 1900's, but here is a link for more info: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/W._S._George_Pottery_Company )
I've set the cab in a smooth bezel, which is soldered to 21 gauge sterling silver sheet. A cast sterling silver twig and a fern leaf hug the cab and a tiny faceted lime chalcedony gemstone is off-set. A round wire bail is soldered to the back. 21" oxidized sterling silver rolo chain with lobster clasp closure. The entire piece is oxidized with liver of sulphur & tumbled with a special medium for 12 hours to bring a soft matte finish to the silver, and also accentuate the highlights and bring dimension to the piece.
Leave a message when checking out if you'd prefer a shorter chain length.
