Facets in Stone - Rustic Garnet in Shist Earrings in Sterling Silver
These chunky, rustic earrings were made with the intent to illustrate the juxtaposition of gemstone in its natural state, with the absurd whimsy of 2 heavily faceted "stones" which are actually faux stones made from solid sterling silver.
Naturally occurring garnet is found in what is called a "shist" made of shale, mudstone, or felsic igneous rocks. I've set these raw, uneven specimens in sterling silver. Beneath dangle "geode" textured sterling silver dangles, with a faux, faceted cast sterling silver "gem". Posts on back. Total length is 1.75".
