Green Man Pendant with Gem Chrysocolla Malachite in Sterling Silver
This highly detailed "Green Man" face (see reference below) has been pressed from a large solid ball of sterling silver. It has some nice weight to it! It is soldered to a 21 gauge sterling sheet. Beneath it is a deep teal blue gem chrysocolla malachite cabochon, which has been set in a serrated bezel and soldered to one layer of 24 gauge sheet, and then soldered to the 21 gauge backing. Hung from an 18.5" oxidized sterling silver beaded chain with lobster clasp closure. The entire piece is oxidized with liver of sulphur & polished to accentuate the highlights and bring dimension to the piece.
"The Green Man is believed to symbolise the cycle of life, death and re-birth. The symbol of Godhood within the male and its relationship with the transcendent life force our Goddess, the female expression of divinity. He is a Pagan symbol who heralds Spring after a long winter and the renewal of lush vegetation."
