Radiant Moon Flower Necklace - Upcycled China in Sterling Silver
This one-of-a-kind pendant has been created in keeping with a Verdilune philosophy - recycle, reuse, renew! The crescent moon "cabochon" is created from broken china by artist Sierra Stone Studios. I've set it in a smooth bezel and paired it with a pointed & hexagonal lapis lazuli pyramid cabochon. These are soldered to 24 gauge sterling silver sheet. This layer is then soldered to another layer, constructed with moon beams of hammered golden brass wire, pierced between some of the beams. A third oval layer of 24 gauge sterling sheet backs the first two layers, and adds dimension to the piercings between the moon beams. This final layer has been hammered and textured around the edges. A tiny white synthetic opal "star" is offset on the second layer. 18" oxidized sterling silver rolo chain with lobster clasp closure. The entire piece is oxidized with liver of sulphur and buffed and polished to bring out the highlights of the metal.
