Rustic Vintage Tin Necklaces with Monarch Opal & Brass
I've wanted to combine my vintage tin with gemstones to create one-of-a-kind pieces. The result is this mini-collection that is a blend of nostalgia, bohemian vibes, and a touch of lux. Each piece in this collection is created from a worn section of teal green tin from a Bower's Old Fashioned Creamy Mints Tin. (The 4th necklace is slightly different and from a Bugler tobacco tin). The tin is cut, sanded and riveted to a back plate of 16 gauge brass sheet. In the center of each piece, a section of tin is cut out to allow an opening for a bezel-set cultured "monarch" opal. The opal's setting is soldered to the brass back plate. The face of the tin is distressed to give a rustic & shabby appearance that is a wonderful juxtaposition with the sparkly and iridescent opals.
These necklaces are one-of-a-kind. Choose from 4 different designs in the drop down menu. All hang from gold brass rolo chain and have brass lobster clasps. The second photo shows each numbered necklace. Style #2 has a 20" chain, and style #1 & #3 have 18" chain. Style #4 has copper rivets and a 19" copper chain.
